Warming Up Emails in Pitchbox: Build Your Sender Reputation
A brand new email account that starts sending outreach on day one tends to end up in spam. Warming it up means sending real messages people are glad to receive first. This uses a praise campaign to do exactly that, complimenting writers in a niche you'd never pitch, with no ask attached and no reputation at risk.
To set up a praise campaign, we're going to select New Campaign and then choose Blogger Outreach. Blogger Outreach can help you quickly build up a large list of prospects that contains blogs, posts, and articles. Now, we're going to start by giving our campaign a name. And then from here, we're going to ensure that we have Find Contact Info toggled on. That will ask the system to get us those email IDs that we're going to use for outreach. Now, a little bit lower is where we're going to enter our keywords. When doing a praise campaign, it can be useful to target a niche that you wouldn't naturally reach out to when you're doing your link-building.
That's because when we reach out to them, we're not going to be asking for anything in return and we're not starting any link-building activity. We're simply paying them a compliment about something that they've written. So, once you've entered your keywords, we're then going to look at our metrics. So because, again, we're not doing link-building, we can turn that off, and that's going to allow the system to pull in even more results. Once done, just select Next and Pitchbox will begin finding those results for you. When your campaign has been created, we can then start setting up our email template.
If you're warming up just one email account, select it from the menu below. Alternatively, if you have several, you can actually warm them up together by enabling Email Rotation. So that's enabled as soon as you add an additional email, and what will happen is the campaign will automatically divide the total amount of sends between those emails. So if you contact 100 websites, each email will take a fraction of those sends. To set up your template, just come into the sequence and then select Edit. Now, if you'd like to use one of our templates, simply find the Email Warmup Guide included within this lesson.
You'll find it under the video. Once your email copy has been added into the template section, you can go ahead and select Save. This is going to give you a quick preview on what that message will look like when all the content has been populated. It gives you a chance to spot any formatting or grammar mistakes before it goes out to your contacts. Now, because this is just a praise campaign, you won't need an additional follow-up template, so it's okay to start with just one for now. Once you have your template in place, we are going to select our outreach schedule, and this is where we're going to control how many messages we send from this campaign on any of your chosen days.
In this section, choose which days you want your communications to send on and between which times. We usually find that business hours and business days work best. If you are attaching just one email account, you would want to reduce that daily send limit to below initially and gradually increase over time. If you would like a guide on how to adjust this metric week by week, again, check out the Email Warmup Guide included within this lesson. If you are leveraging email rotation and you have multiple emails sharing the sending load, you can quite comfortably increase that sending limit because it will be divided between each email.
Once you've got that set, just press Save, and you're ready to start sending outreach to your audience. Once your communications have been launched, you're now wanting to keep an eye on your campaign response rate. You'll be able to see that over here. Now, if you are leveraging email rotation, you can use the outreach status, and that's going to give you a response rate per email account. So it means you can keep an eye on which email accounts are performing best and allow you to track how successful it is over time.
