How to Set Up Your Projects
Run two clients out of one workspace and it's only a matter of time before the wrong site gets pitched from the wrong address. A project keeps each domain separate: its own campaigns, inbox, pipeline, and email accounts. This covers the setup choices that are awkward to change later, including time zone and the block list.
Let's take a look at how we can set up a new project in our accounts. Now, projects are just workspaces, usually allocated per domain that you're going to building links for. And in each workspace, you'll have separate campaigns, its own inbox, its own data, and its own pipeline tracking the success of the sites that you find. Now, to set up your project from scratch, head to New Projects, and then in the section, we're going to add in some key information. Firstly, who is this project or what is this project for? Let's say I'm building links for Pitchbox.
I'm going to name it as such so the team knows whose workspace this belongs to. A little lower, we're going to choose our target time zone. Now, this doesn't prevent you from finding sites in other regions of the world, but it does help you when you're aligning the times when you're going to be sending out your messages. Now, in the box below is where we're going to add a list of our sites. So these are the sites that belong to this particular client. We're going to list them one after another, beneath. Now, a little lower is where you can add certain sites to a block list.
Now, a block list is a specific feature in Pitchbox that helps you prevent certain domains from ever being found. This is really useful if this client has a particular list of competitors or just sites they deem as low-quality and they don't want to communicate with them through the link-building journey. From here, we're going to select add sites to block lists. Add each of the sites we wish to add to this list, we're going to enter below. Once you have your site, simply enter a reason and from here, select add to block list. You'll notice that the system adds both versions of the domain and once this has been done, you can return back to your project setup to continue with the next steps.
Under advanced options, we have a few more settings to look at. For example, we have link monitoring domain. So in this section, you're going to tell us what website or which domain you are building links for. When you add it to this system, it means that you can now track links pointing to that domain when you add them to link monitoring through your link-building journey. Once you're done, just select continue. Now in this section, we're going to enter the business address and this is going to be used in the can spam unsubscribe message. So if you choose to use this feature, it will automatically pull the business address out with your outgoing communications, so you don't have to type it out each time.
So once we've added our address, we're going to select continue. From here, we're going to choose which of our project users we want to allow to have access to this project. Now admins have unrestricted access to every area of the account, so we do not need to authorize our access to a particular project. However, where you have a user, you do need to toggle their access on. Once you've done that, select continue and choose which of your email accounts you would like to be connected to this project. You may be using different email accounts for different projects, so it's important to assign them correctly. Once you're done, just select create project and you'll now see this in the dashboard. From here, you can go ahead and create your first campaign.
