Keep Unwanted Domains Out of Your Lists
The same handful of sites keep surfacing in campaign after campaign: a competitor, a site you know never links, one a client has ruled out. The prospecting blocklist stops them being pulled in at all, rather than making you delete them each time. Block a domain and its subdomains, account-wide or for one project.
The prospecting blocklist is a feature in Pitchbox that allows you to prevent certain domains from ever being pulled into the system, whether that be through a live search or by entering them manually. Now this can be for a range of different reasons such as direct competitors or sites that you deem as low quality and there are a few ways to add it into the blocklist. The first step is to head to the settings and then head to prospecting blocklist. Now in this section you can choose whether you want a site to be blocked for the entire account under account-wide blocklist or for a particular project.
Once you've made your selections select add sites to blocklist. Once we've entered our domains we're now going to enter a reason. For example it could be a competitor, a low quality site or sites that you know that do not link. From here just select add to blocklist and you'll notice on the left that the system will block both versions of the domain. The standard version and the www.version. While it's possible to block a single domain you can also block a site and its sub-domains by using a wildcard block. To set this up simply open up the window again and enter your domain of choice.
But in order to use the wildcard block we need to first add an asterisk and then a period so it looks something like this. Then once you're ready just select add to blocklist and that will now be added to your file. At any stage if you need to take a domain off of a blocklist simply select it from the menu and then select remove from blocklist. When you're first setting up an account it can be useful to add in known sites to the blocklist before you begin your prospecting but it's also possible to block site as you go. Let's take a look. If you come across a site you wish to block while you're in the campaign workflow you can do so by selecting the domain from the left hand side and then selecting the three dots.
From here you can either block the domain for just this project or block it account wide via the global blocklist. If you're looking at the site via the inspect and personalized window you can also block from this screen using the three dots at the top and then selecting project or global blocklist. However let's say you're coming across a website later on in the journey while you're in the inbox it's also possible to add it to a blocklist via the opportunity details screen. From here simply head to the top of your opportunity details screen and select blocklist this website. Again you can choose project or an account wide block.
