On a small site, every page is a candidate. On a domain ranking for thousands of keywords, the problem is the opposite: too many options and most of them already rank. Bibi works through a large site looking for pages where a link push would actually move something, and shows why template pages and internal links are often the fastest route in.

All right, let's pick some target pages for the second domain, clickup.com. Real quick intro, ClickUp is a project management tool that has a lot of features. So you can see some stuff here. They have a lot of content around that, around all their products. And they also have a blog section, which we'll go into a little bit later, that covers tons of topics around tips for managers, but also business leadership stuff and statistics or simple definitions of terms. So we have a lot to work with. As I said before, you usually start out with a lot of information from the client themselves around the products that they want to push around the place where they get the most conversion, business parts they want to grow in.

The goal of link building could also be branding, but let's just go by what we can see in Ahrefs and judge things by face value only. So I put on the domain and then I check out the keywords. This is usually how I start, just like with the solar company. So what I'm looking for is keywords that there's enough demand for and where they could grow up into the snack pack, top three. So if I look here, I can see team building ideas. This could be good. They're position number one there. It could be fortifying more than growing. The calendar template.

This could be really interesting. They're on page two, I think. And if we could get them on page one somewhere, that could already make a big difference. It might not have directly to do with the product, but it could internally link to maybe some other calendar template or calendar feature that they have. But let's see if there's anything that's a little bit more directly relevant to the product. So a work order template. They're position two. So we could try and get them to position one. So the calendar template, I think that's interesting to me because it does directly have to do with managing a team.

Okay, so let's go down a little bit. Maybe there's something more commercial. AI detection tool. Yeah, that could be for managers as well, because they want to see who in their team is using AI, project manager software construction, open node templates, Gantt chart. That could be interesting because it does sound like it's more for managers, but they're already pretty good there. Travel alternate templates, new AI assistants, online calendar. Yeah, the calendar is still interesting. And seven Asana versus Monday. That is an interesting one because it has a lot to do with the product.

It's talking about two other products. It's position seven. So that could be interesting to look at the competition. So I could go down more also because ClickUp is of course a big domain. It's ranking for a lot of different keywords. I could use some filters as well. I could say, for instance, it has to rank somewhere between one and 20 or zero and 20 volume has to be at least, let's say a thousand, or it could even do maybe a little bit more and show results. And now I have a little bit more results. I could change this to three, but then I would miss out if it's already ranking number one.

Team building activities. Yeah, I could still be very interesting. Open that up. But let's see if there's something that has to do a little bit more with the project. Yeah. Okay, this is really interesting because a lot of businesses basically stand or fall with their SOPs. And it's a template. So a template is something really useful. So I would definitely check this one out. Okay, we got a lot. So I'm just going to open them up here. This was the work order templates. I think templates are actually really great. You could already see that it only has one backlink.

Of course, ClickUp is a very strong name. Free work order template here. It's already position one. So probably more be about fortifying work order forms or pushing it up for some other keywords. So I could add this one, but let's see if there's something where growth would be very noticeable, right? Let's take a look at the page for the templates. And their "Google Calendar templates is there organized at work." So this could be something that could internally link to a product page. Maybe a landing page for some kind of calendar calendar feature for ClickUp.

So I think this is interesting. I want to see what the competition looks like. So here we have calendar templates. Okay, so let's click that. And of course, normally you would do a way more deeper research on this, but I just want to show you my thoughts about target pages. So we're competing with Canva, has formed 48 backlinks, um, creates, Microsoft's, calendar labs, and a lot of others. So these are tons of backlinks, but we could try to start to build backlinks to pop up at least on page one. So I just want to really do really quick and dirty filter for the backlinks.

So this is Canva. 150 backlinks dofollow in content. There are no domain traffic 500. And this is just to filter out a lot of spam links. This is 17 backlinks. I could do one more, like one link per domain. And here you can see that off those 150 backlinks, now 11 basically are left. And you get a kind of like an idea of what you would need to beat a competitor. And it can be interesting to see how these links were placed, because I can give you an idea as well for your own campaigns. Let's look at a couple of more. So here we have a lot for Microsoft, of course, it's that's a big site.

So dofollow in content 500 502. So that's still a lot of backlinks. One link per domain 67. So that's still a lot of backlinks that could be a little bit harder. But there are some, it does seem that there might be some competitors in there that are beatable with backlinks. And you could also try to improve your content, of course, calendar labs 65. Of course, they are very specialized. So there could be hard to compete as well. Five, right? And then here one link per domain, four. This is starting to look like there are two competitors in there that are not as strong as they seem maybe.

So it could be worth with the strength of the ClickUp domain to go after those positions. So I would probably go for the Google Calendar template because templates work really well. And it does seem like there is a chance of beating them if you get more and better backlinks and also maybe do some other content optimization and stuff. And maybe you can add something that the other pages don't have, like a tool or anything else. Maybe a calendar calculator for something. But we can go into that later. So here's Asana vs Monday. Again, I would look at the keywords.

Then look at this keyword, for instance, the position seven here, there, position one. But let's look at this one because it's way more search volume. And here again, you can go through the backlinks and start filtering on them, right? So that could be another target page. And I really liked this one because it's a template as well. If I look at the keywords here, it's position three SOP templates. It already has a lot of position one. So maybe this is more about fortifying and anything else. So again, you can look into the backlinks and start filtering on them.

Another way to determine target pages is to look at the top pages for the domain because that gives you an indication of how much in demand those topics are. What you can do then is look at the internal links. Where are these pages linking out to? If it makes sense, you can have those internal links point to a product page that you want to boost up. So there are a lot of different ways to determine target pages. But with these two example sites, I wanted to show you my two main methods to determine additional target pages to what the client had in mind. Next up, we can look at content ideation for linkable assets in case you don't have pages that are easy to build links to.
